The Mental Health Association in Orange County is a non-profit organization based in outside of Hillsborough, North Carolina. We are dedicated to engaging with local citizens to promote the mental health of our community and  to improve the lives of our residents living with mental illnesses.
Welcome...

America is in the midst of a mental health crisis, yet our government continues to cut funding for services and supports each year, resulting in the over-burdening of our prison systems and homeless populations.

The Mental Health Association in Orange County (MHAOC) is a leader in raising awareness about mental health issues and concerns that effect our community. Despite the challenges of funding needs vs. opportunities, the MHAOC continues to provide quality programs for consumers to keep them engaged, lift them up, validate their efforts, provide supports and resources, as well as help educate families and the community on issues that address stigma, social and legislative reform, fair housing and employment of the mentally ill, and many other issues.

Our ultimate goal is to open minds and change lives. We hope you will join us in this effort.

The Mental Health Association in Orange County (MHAOC) is a 501 (c) (3), non-profit organization supported by private and corporate donations and grants, as well as by a strong corps of volunteers who graciously contribute their time to many of the detailed needs of our organization. Additionally, we host a major fund-raising event annually, The Vintage Faire, which raises about $10,000 to $15,000 towards the general operating budget each year.

Like most non-profit organizations in post 9-11 America today, the MHAOC struggles to receive adequate funds to sustain our operation year-to-year. Many non-profit groups have had to close their doors in recent years due to lost funding sources, but the MHAOC has been blessed by enough support from the community we serve to maintain operations and serve consumers in our region.

If you would like to make a donation - either financial, or of your time - please contact our executive director, Mark Sullivan, at 919.942.8083, or by email at info@mhaorangeco.org today. Your contributions will help sustain vital community programs, including:
-- Community Back Yard
-- Compeer
-- Family Advocacy Network
-- MHAOC operations and other outreach projects
-- Northside Community Garden
-- Strengthening Families
